Murton Parish Council

Streetscape were asked by Murton Parish Council to design an exciting new play area at Welfare Park, creating an area for the entire community to use incorporating items of Play, Sport and Fitness Equipment.

Following extensive consultation events with young people and residents, Murton Parish Council and Murton Welfare Association, comments were taken on board and a final design was agreed and work began in the Spring. An existing but unusable hard standing area was transformed with a new tarmac pad and skate ramps, with a Play Area created on the open green space featuring an Aerial Runway, Multiplay Unit and Sturdy Swings that Included the Basket Swing – an Inclusive play item.

A formal launch took place in August with a Fun Day. This included games, rides, stalls and even a visit from the Fire Brigade allowing children to sit in the Fire Engine. As a second phase, an area for fitness was installed giving residents the opportunity to access free to use fitness equipment.

The variety of equipment, a total of 5 items, is great for a range of muscular and cardiovascular exercises and is suitable for users over 1.4m in height.
